Good day everyone.
After a less than stellar start the BSR is up and running again. If you are interested in joining you now go through the Ontario Federation of Trail Riders www.oftr.ca and join them first. A small portion of your membership fee will then be submitted to the BSR. Some of this portion will be used to purchase directors and operators insurance for the club. The club itself is a non-profit club and requires little else to operate.
Your membership with the OFTR will give you a voice in government to try and stop the closure of trails in all areas of the province. Don't think it will happen here in the north........it already has begun. Temagami area already has areas shut down and more are scheduled. People have already been charged by the police for riding in these closed areas. I encourage everyone who rides off-road to get active so that you and your children will be able to enjoy the pleasures of off-road riding in the future. The people that make these new laws do not ride and if we just lay down and watch riding areas close it will go on and on. Speak up for the North.
Check out what is going on with the North Humberland Trail Riders Club http://northumberlandcfac.cenet.ca/ . This is the kind of bureaucratic BS that is going to keep happening if the off-road community stays silent.
Make your northern voice heard in Toronto
At this time I would also like to thank Peter Conti for stepping up to the plate and become the acting president. Peter is a long time enduro lover who will bring much to club.
Thank you and enjoy the riding.
