During a wide ranging discussion that included:
The lack of progress on change to and effects of the MTO ruling not to allow dirt bikes to be converted to road use. OFTR’s Ken Hoeverman is still working to get some concessions from MTO.
OFTR is also trying to helping situations where MotoX tracks are under threat of closure.
Encroaching objections and restrictions to trail and other land use by motorcycles, these problems are slowly moving North so join the club and OFTR and help fight back!
VMUTS encroachment on, and damage to, trails on public land between North Bay and Mattawa that riders, fishermen and hunters have use for 30 years. Some word of motorcycle restrictions here but OFTR does have a land use agreement with VMUTS. We were advised that the Mica mine is now on private property having been bought by a Mr. Reed (or is it Ried?)
Receipt of $1000 dollars (courtesy of Peter Conti’s efforts) from OFTR to provide funds for the club activities.
Peter C also went through the new procedure with OFTR where those who want to be members of BSR can go to the OFTR website, click join now and follow the instructions. It will provide you a menu of clubs to join, click on Blue Sky Riders continue. All the various fees for single and family memberships are shown. e.g. single rider over 18years is $80. $60 of this is returned to BSR for club activity.
Peter C explained that we need a logo for BSR. Why,? Well when you join through OFTR they will send you a membership card with OFTR on one side and the BSR logo on the other, plus your name. They will also send you an OFTR helmet sticker that allows you to ride in certain areas in the Province that do have restrictions to none OFTR members and others.
Membership forms can be mailed in or best, join on line with Credit Card or Paypal.
Peter S updated members on the new MCC umbrella association for all competition organizations.
Peter S also advised members of his attendance at local Discovery Routes and other local area trails initiatives in order to put motorcycle use on the agenda with these organizations. The next meeting will be at the North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority’s Natural Classroom, 15 Janey Avenue, North Bay at 4:00pm Feb. 20, 2008 if anyone else wishes to attend.
